OxyPrem: Oxygen sensors for premature babies

Each year, some 6,000 - 7,000 babies are born prematurely in Switzerland. These early arrivals often suffer from a lack of oxygen.  OxyPrem has developed a device that accurately measures oxygen levels and can therefore help save lives. Their first CE marked product, OxyPrem 1.4, was launched within 12 months and obtained by 38 specialized hospitals across 11 European countries and India. Their team is now heading towards CE marking  for their second product OxyPrem NOAH.

Together with three partners, Jana Fischer has taken the bold step of founding a company in 2022. The tumor diagnostics services offered by her company Navignostics have been available in Switzerland since 2025 and help guide personalized cancer treatment decicions based on its spatial proteomic technology. By 2026, Navignostics has received 12.5M in funding and is raising a 10M series A to bring its product to market.

 

 

 

Obaris: pain-free alternative for administering medication

OBaris AG is a preclinical spin-off founded in 2024, emerging from six years of joint research at ETH Zurich and the University Hospital Zurich (USZ). The company's core innovation is OctoPatch, a painless, self-applicable suction patch worn on the inner cheek. Just one year after incorporation, OBaris has been acquired by Johnson&Johnson, who will take OctoPatch forward. Co-founders David Klein Cerrejon and Nevena Paunović will remain involved and continue developing the platform within the Johnson & Johnson organisation.

 

 

Fimmcyte: Towards Disease Modifying Treatments for Fibroinflammatory Diseases

FimmCyte focuses on an innovative immunological therapy that aims to correct the dysregulation of the immune system, a key cause of inflammation and adhesions in endometriosis. The company was founded in 2022 as a start-up of the University of Zurich and University Hospital Zurich and is supported by Innosuisse, the UZH Life Sciences Fund and BaseLaunch, among others. Fimmcyte also proudly claims a splot in the prestigous TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award for two consecutive years, ranking #28 in 2024 (4th in the biotech sector) and #54 in 2025.
